The team at ITC Consult, a certified partner of Odoo for Bulgaria, has developed a new logistics module designed to extend the platform’s standard capabilities for managing deliveries and shipments. The solution is created as a universal application that can be implemented in various trading and distribution companies and adapted according to their specific business processes.
The ERP platform Odoo provides a wide range of applications for managing key business processes. However, the standard functionality lacks a unified logistics system that combines delivery management, routing and shipment operations. The new module by ITC Consult addresses this need by integrating logistics processes directly into the existing system architecture.
More efficient planning and delivery management
The developed application allows centralized management of key logistics parameters, including automatic determination of delivery dates, order priority and assignment of a driver and vehicle. The system can calculate delivery dates based on predefined rules – for example, a set number of days until delivery or a specific day of the week. This facilitates shipment planning and synchronization between warehouse and sales processes.
The module also supports inheritance of logistics settings across different levels within the system – for example, between a client and a specific site or location. This allows flexible delivery management for companies with multiple delivery addresses and different logistical requirements.
Automated connection between sales, warehouse, and shipments
One of the key functionalities of the solution is the automatic transfer of logistics information between different stages of the process – from sales orders to warehouse documents and shipments. When a sales order is created, the system automatically fills in parameters such as delivery date, driver and other logistics settings. After order confirmation, this information is used to generate warehouse documents and shipment records.
The module also generates shipment sheets based on the selected driver and delivery date, enabling more efficient task distribution and better control over delivery execution.
Integration with field operations and routes
The solution also includes integration with the field operations application in Odoo – Field Service through which tasks for drivers are automatically created. These tasks include information about the client, delivery date and time and other necessary data for completing the job.
Thanks to this integration, deliveries can be visualized on a map and organized by date and time interval, supporting route optimization and more efficient use of transport resources.
Universal solution for different business models
The new module is designed as a universal solution that can be used by companies with different logistics models – from product distribution to delivery management involving multiple drivers and vehicles. The system allows a single delivery to be split across multiple shipments and supports detailed tracking of quantities, weight and execution status.
With the development of this module, ITC Consult expands the capabilities of Odoo for managing logistics processes and provides companies with a tool for better control, automation and transparency in delivery management.
